Lockheed Architectural Solutions, Inc. completed renovations to J.R. Lowell Elementary School in late 2023. Most of the renovations were done to the interior of the building, filling it with light, and featuring an expanded cafeteria, a new library, and a group learning commons with 2-story tall windows. Lockheed’s contributions to this project included high-quality windows, storefronts, and entrances, giving the building a more spacious and open aesthetic. School Principal Stacy Phelan notes, “The inside matches the outside, in that when you’re in these classrooms, they’re serene, calm, and bring nature from the outside into the inside of the building. It really is a peaceful environment.” These renovations have not only improved the look of the school, but also the morale of students and faculty being in a more enjoyable, open space.
